Longyear

Target Minerals:

Gold, Copper, Silver

Size:

1,090 Ha.

Location:

The 1,090 hectare Longyear concession is located in the central Dominican Republic, approximately 55 km northwest of the capital of Santo Domingo. Approximately 3 km to the northeast, the Los Ranchos Formation rocks host the high sulphidation Pueblo Viejo deposit. Pueblo Viejo is the second largest high sulphidation gold deposit in the world, containing more than 20 million ounces of gold and 200 million ounces of silver in sulphide reserves.

Property Geology and Mineralization:

The Longyear concession lies in an area characterized by a thrusted contact between schists of the Maimon Formation in the southwest and younger limestones of the Hatillo Formation and volcanics of the Los Ranchos Formation to the northeast.

Exploration by Energold has included soil geochemical programs, IP/resistivity surveys, trenching, and diamond drilling. Work was concentrated on Loma la Mina, a prominent hill underlain by Maimon Formation rocks and which is the site of historic copper and possibly gold production from near surface oxide deposits.

The soil and rock geochemical sampling outlined a 400 X 800 metre >250 ppb soil geochemical anomaly on Loma La Mina as well as >250 ppb and >50 ppb gold results to the northeast, away from Loma La Mina, in an overburden covered area possibly underlain by Los Ranchos Formation rocks.

Results of the geophysical survey showed coincident chargeability and resistivity anomalies at Loma La Mina and at a second zone some 1000 m to the west. These anomalies are interpreted to represent zones of silicified massive sulphide mineralization, at or near surface at Loma La Mina and hidden from surface at the second zone.

To date Energold has only diamond drilled the Loma la Mina zone, where a potential oxide gold resource overlies massive sulfide mineralization. Additional targets to be tested at Longyear include the northern geochemical anomaly, possibly due to high sulphidation style epithermal gold mineralization similar to Pueblo Viejo, and the western IP/resistivity anomaly, interpreted to represent silicified massive sulphide mineralization in Maimon Formation rocks similar to that at Loma la Mina.

Exploration:

GoldQuest Mining Corp. optioned this strategic property from Energold in November 2003. The property was optioned for US$1.5M for 60% over three years with a commitment to drill 1,000 metres within six months of the agreement.
