Centenario Drilling Results
|Energold Mining announces the third set of assay results (gopher drill holes 97-56 to 97-65 inclusive) from the drilling program at El Centenario in the Dominican Republic.|
Highlights of the current 10 holes include 97-59, which returned values of 18m of 6.04 grams per tonne gold near surface, and 23m of 6.63 g/T Au deeper in the hole. Hole 97-56 had 17.3m of 3.39 g/T Au; hole 97-62 showed 49m of 3.45 g/T Au right from surface and hole 97-63 returned values of 23m of 8.61 g/T Au from 1-24m in depth.
Drilling continues to show locally high grade assays in excess of 30 g/T Au over 1-5 metres interspersed among lower grades 0.3-2 g/T Au. Locally, mineralization shows a NW-SE trend. Indicative of the irregular distribution of mineralization, NS and EW structural controls predominate in different parts of the deposit.
The next several holes will begin to test the exploration potential of this NW-SE trend outside the current 200 x 150 x 50m block.
Mineralization goes as deep as 90 metres in some holes but in general there appears to be alower limit to gold grades at 500-525 metres elevation. In an epithermal system such as El Centenario that may indicate a zone where hydrothermal fluids boiled, causing the precipitation of metals, including gold.
Overall, El Centenario is still on target to host 400,000 ounces of gold, though at a lower grade than previously estimated. The deposit remains open to the east, south, and north.
All the drill core and surface samples at El Centenario have been assayed by fire assay methods. Energold's sampling of the Hydracore Gopher drill has been at one metre intervals. One half of the BQ size drill core is sawn and crushed to minus 0.95 cm (3.8 inch) from which an approximately 0.5 kg (1 lb) split using a Jones Splitter is cut and sent to a recognized assay lab in Canada for further processing and analysis. Rejects and remaining drill cores are stored in a lab facility near Bonao and are available for relogging and re-assaying as needed. A preliminary mineral model will be prepared by independent consultant upon completion of the next series of holes.
