Energold Announces Results Of Exploration Program On The San Antonio Project

Energold Mining Ltd. (EGD:TSX.V) is pleased to announce the results of a trenching program recently conducted on the San Antonio Project. The program consisted of excavating four new trenches and the re-sampling of two older trenches in the vicinity of previous drilling, with the object of investigating the oxide gold potential of the Copper, Parcela and 1100W zones.

The Copper and Parcela Zones are zones of volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization that have been intersected by drilling over 400 m strike lengths and to 250 m down dip. A 1999/2000 drill program included intercepts of 1.5% Cu, 14.6% Zn, 2.9g/t Au and 78 g/t Ag over 3.1 metres at the Copper Zone and 5.9% Cu, 3.5% Zn, 2.3 g/t Au and 86 g/t Ag over 3.4 metres at the Parcela Zone. The 1100W zone is an area approximately 2 km southeast of the Copper Zone of barite float and anomalous gold-in-soil. A drill hole in this area intersected 23.9 metres grading 0.28 g/t Au and 0.7% Zn.

The trenches were sampled at continuous intervals (generally 2 m) along the base of the wall in saprolitic rock. A total of 91 chip samples and 1 grab sample were collected and shipped to ALS Chemex in Mississauga Ont. for analysis using a 30 g fire assay with AA finish for gold as well as a 34 element ICP analysis. Nigel Hulme, P.Geo, a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101, supervised and directed all work associated with the exploration program.

The following table summarizes the results of the trenching program:

Additional prospecting and soil sampling were conducted approximately 750 m south of the Copper Zone, where previous sampling in 1998-1999 located anomalous gold in gossanous float and in soil. Soil sampling on a 50m by 25m grid basis in an area 300m by 300m returned a high of 1.6 g/t gold from a total of 73 samples.

Twenty kilometres to the northwest of the San Antonio Project is Globestar Mining Corporation's Cerro de Maimon deposit. Globestar reports Cerro de Maimon to contain a measured and indicated oxide resource of 664,000 tonnes grading 2.54 g/t gold and 63.80 g/t silver at a 1.0 g/t gold cut-off and a measured and indicated sulphide resource of 4,111,000 tonnes grading 2.93% copper, and 1.75% zinc at a 1.0% copper cut-off. (Globestar Mining Corp. July 15/2003)

Energold is encouraged by the results of the recent program, as they demonstrate the potential for oxide gold mineralization in the Copper and Parcela zones, similar to that at Cerro de Maimon.
